This explains how 4Real Estate Limited, trading as RenteRoo, uses cookies and similar technologies on www.renteroo.co.uk. Read it alongside our Privacy Policy.
In short: RenteRoo sets only the cookies needed to sign you in and keep your session secure. We set no analytics cookies, no advertising cookies, and no third-party tracking cookies — which is why you have never seen a cookie banner here.
A cookie is a small file a website stores on your device so it can remember something between pages — that you are signed in, for example. Some cookies are strictly necessary for a site to work at all. Others are optional, and UK law says a site must ask your permission before setting them.
These are all of them.
| Cookie | Set by | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
sb-<project>-auth-token (and its numbered chunks) | Supabase, our authentication provider | Keeps you securely signed in as you move between pages, and holds the session token that proves who you are | Until you sign out, or until the session expires |
That is the complete list. It is strictly necessary — without it you cannot sign in — so under UK law it does not require your consent.
If you block it, you will not be able to sign in or use RenteRoo. Nothing else on the site depends on a cookie.
We do want to know whether RenteRoo is useful — whether people finish setting up a property, whether reminders get looked at. We do it without storing anything on your device:
Because none of this is stored on your device, no consent is required for it and there is no banner to click. We think that is the right trade. It means our analytics are less precise than most companies', and that is the price.
If you switch notifications on, your browser creates a subscription and hands us two things, which we keep so we can send to that device:
One record per device. Turn notifications on for your phone and your laptop and there are two, and each is separate.
What it is not: it is not your location, it is not a way for us to recognise you on other websites, and it holds none of the contents of anything we send.
It goes when you do. We delete it when you turn notifications off, when you sign out on that device, and when you close your account. If your browser tells us the subscription no longer exists — because you cleared your browser, or deleted the app from your home screen — we delete our copy automatically the next time we try to send to it.
And you can always overrule us. Your browser's own notification settings can revoke permission whatever RenteRoo says, and that stops it at the source.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and most browsers can tell you when one is being set. Guidance for common browsers is at aboutcookies.org.
Because the only cookie we set is the one that signs you in, blocking it will stop RenteRoo working. There is no optional cookie to switch off.
Notifications are the one thing here you can turn on and off freely, and turning them off removes what is stored — see section 5.1.
If we ever introduce a cookie that is not strictly necessary, we will ask for your consent before setting it, we will update this page, and we will tell registered users. The same goes for anything else we would store on your device. Until then, this page is the whole picture.
